Football Vs Soccer - How They Are Related, and How They Are Not
Two of the most beloved sports Football and Soccer have much in common. Lately, many are wondering why there is such an international pull for soccer while football remains an American sport. This articles intent is to bring out some of the similarities and differences between soccer and football based on: history, team size, and fan size.
History: Football vs. Soccer
Football is actually a relative from soccer. Though the date is unsure of when the sport was first known to be played, there were many professional teams starting to spring up in the late 1800s. It was not that much different from its closer cousin rugby, but was showing some far different plays from soccer already.
Here is an interesting fact. Soccer or "football" as is as known in most European and South American Countries is actually the founder of both rugby and football. The major disconnections occurred when the rules for soccer changed to a "no hands" rule. At this point rugby was born. Later as rugby split into two different kinds of play: traditional rugby which allows drop kick goals and more footwork, and American football which has kickoffs and field goals (reminiscent of its soccer days) tackling and hand offs (similar to rugby) and forward passing, options, and other additions.
Soccer on the other hand has a long history, according to the Munich Ethnological Museum there is a Chinese text dated around 50 B.C. talking about "soccer" games in china. Though it is unsure how similar these games were to what we know as soccer today.
Team Size: Football vs. Soccer
There is a tremendous size difference between football and soccer. In football you not only have players that make up a team, but you have specific teams within your team. There are three major teams that consist of a football team: The offense, the defense, and special teams. Each one has a specific objective. The offense with a quarterback, receivers, and guards' objective are to score touchdowns, while the defensive team's job is to stop the opposing team from scoring by tackling the quarterback, runners, or blocking passes. Special teams deal with punts, field goals, and kickoffs. All in all there are anywhere from 30 - 60 players that combine to make a football team.
Soccer is a continuous sport. Meaning unlike football where you have set plays and an offensive and defensive team, in soccer the ball is always going. That being the case there are still offensive and defensive parts to the play of soccer. One can tell whether a team is on the offensive or defensive by where the ball is on the field. If the ball is on your side of the field then you are on defensive, if it is on your opponent's side then you are on the offensive.
Fan Size: Football vs. Soccer
Determining which sport has a greater or more loyal fan base is difficult. Here in the United States American football by far has the larger fan base. However, outside of the United States (and perhaps Canada) you do not hear much about football, only soccer. Entire cities have been known to shut down for the world cup, and yet the most watched event was last year's super bowl. One thing is a fact. Both soccer and football have loyal fans that are not going anywhere.
Conclusion
Soccer or Football? Well when it comes right down to it, you are choosing between two very popular sports that will continue to gain momentum in the years to come.

El Salvador Soccer Team
El Salvador soccer team goes with many nicknames. The team was invariably called Seleccion Cuscatleca, La Azul, La Selecta and Cuscatlecos. The head coach of the team is Carlos de los Cobos and the team captain is Afredo Pacheco. The player who garnered the most caps is Luis Guevara Mora and the team's top scorer is Jorge "Magico" Gonzales. Their home ground is Estadio Cuscatlan. They ranked number 50 on FIFA in 1992 (their highest FIFA ranking) and in 2006, they plunged to the ranking of 169, their lowest FIFA ranking.
Their first international match happened in Guatemala City, Guatemala in September 14, 1921 against Costa Rica. The Costa Ricans dominated the game with the score of 7-0. The biggest win they had managed is their match against Anguilla wherein they trampled their opponent that resulted in a 12-0 score. The match was held recently in their own country in February 6, 2008. They tasted a great defeat though when they encountered the Hungarian team. That was in 1982 where they had managed to sink only one goal against 10 of Hungary.
El Salvador soccer team appeared on World Cup twice, first in 1970 when they won the qualifying match against Honduras that resulted to the infamous Football War, and their second Worlds Cup gig happened in 1982. There they were able to have their first World Cup goal made by Luiz Baltazar Ramirez Zapata. They had also managed to secure a CONCACAF Gold Cup slot five times.
The proper name of El Salvador soccer team is El Salvador National Football Team which falls under direct control of Federacion Salvadoreña de Futbol. Many soccer stars came from this team including Pablo Huezo, Santiago Barrachina and Carlos Escobar. The team was officially born in 1921.

International Soccer Schools Teamwork Tips - Part II
Sometimes it happens. You end up playing on a team with less ability than you. Teams at our international soccer schools gel very well. Players travel halfway around the world to attend, so they all arrive prepared and focused on the same goal: to play soccer.
It can be a different story with local club teams. You're facing different levels of skill and motivation, and you have to work with what you have. Players coming home from our international soccer schools often face this dilemma, so we put together some tips for how to handle it.
Set the pace
Lead by example, and pull the team together with you. Work hard during practice, and let everyone see you're committed to the team. During games, don't let yourself shine above and beyond the team. Instead, focus on bringing everyone together to get the best out of every player.
Don't tear down your teammates
Sometimes on amateur teams, a player with more technical ability than others will berate their teammates for mistakes. Players in international soccer schools learn positive reinforcement, encouraging fellow players when they do well to bring them up. Practice this positive reinforcement at home.
If a teammate makes a mistake, it's not a problem. Give them a pat on the back, and say, "Let's not make this mistake again. We're all in this together." Players who do that make a difference with their attitude towards their own teammates.
Training like a pro
Players in international soccer schools concentrate on teamwork as well as technical skills. Don't forget to implement that at home. Coaches and parents talk about players showing better organizational skills, reading the game better, and helping organize their teammates into different positions on the field.
Are they talking about you? Start training like an elite international soccer schools player today, and they will be soon.

England Soccer Team - The Frustrations of the English Soccer Fans
England soccer team is one of the toughest and popular among the professional soccer team However, in spite of this the team has only one trophy from the World Cup. The team is comparable to Spain's team which consist the most skilled players but did not have many trophies in their long years with the sport.
Though the England's team was not so lucky in its many competitions, they were able to have some contributions with the sport and some of the historical moments in the history of the sport.
Since the sport was first officially invented in England, the country's team is want of the oldest team in the whole world besides the Scotland team These two teams are strong rivals for long years and both teams have the best squads.
As early as the 20th century, FIFA had expanded all through Europe and acted as one of the dominating organization of the sport. As England's team joined the organization, it did not take long and departed due to controversies related with the Football Association.
Even after the team exited from FIFA, the English team didn't make it to be qualified with the World Cups. Ironically, even with the team's possession of the best players, many are wondering why it did not manage to win many World Cup tournaments. They could have easily beaten their opponents easily and could have collected too many trophies.
Even with many failures, the England soccer team still manages to maintain the number of its millions of fans.

Irish Soccer Team - A History 1924-1988
The Irish team made its competitive debut at the 1924 Olympics and in the process they reached the quarter finals.
Between 1924 and 1936 the team competed as the Irish Free State and from then until 1950 the team was known as Ireland. After some confusion as the north of Ireland and the south were both called Ireland and the fact that players were playing for both sides FIFA intervened and after 1950 the team became known as the Republic of Ireland and this remains the case today.
After a troubled period in the 1960's, the Irish team regained respectability in the football world under the direction of Johhny Giles, only narrowly missing out on qualification for the 1978 World Cup.
Eoin Hand took the reigns for the 1982 World cup qualifications and again narrowly missed out this time on goal difference to France. Disappointing campaigns followed in 1984 and 1986 for the European Championships and World Cup respectively which ended his stint in charge.
The Republics greatest era came under the management of Jack Charlton 1986-1995, during his reign Ireland qualified for the 1988 European Championships in Germany, 1990 World Cup Finals in Italy and the USA 1994 World Cup. Not only did the Irish qualify but they left there mark on each championship they qualified for.
In the 1988 European Championships in Germany the Irish failed to advance from the Group stages but with only 8 teams in the competition Ireland finished a very respectable 5th. It also provided the Irish fans with the first but not the last great moment in Irish football. A 1-0 win against England with a Ray Houghton goal provided the Irish with their first memorable moment in a competitive championship.

Soccer Logo - Pride of Every Football Team
A soccer logo can be found anywhere but primarily it represents the ultimate character of a team. Football logos are the best choice in providing recognition and identity for a club. The very reason for logos in general is the identity and relevance of its teams. Soccer tournaments are all over the world and each team wears a logo to signify the team's crusade towards victory. The logo for each team is a symbol of its hard work and is also the best reminder for the players so that they will work with one another to find victory.
A soccer logo doesn't just pop out of a canvass. It results from a thorough conceptualization of the strong attributes of a certain team. An essential symbolism and recall can be employed so that the team can leave a mark in the minds of the enthusiasts. A strong sense of belongingness in the minds of the players can bring their skills to a higher level. Team Logos will eventually motivate them which thereby results to a different level of entertainment.
Trademarks are also found on the uniforms of professional players. These trademarks are often logos of brands of certain products. The embedded logos of uniforms add vibrancy to the attractive colors of the shorts and shirts. Often these logos complement the color of a certain team. Logos are used not just for aesthetic or advertising reasons. They stand for the recognition, pride and teamwork of the teams. In addition, they serve as source of motivation and inspiration to the soccer players.

Barcelona Soccer Team Facts
Barcelona is a city long in love with sports, especially the Barcelona Soccer Team.
In addition to hosting the 1992 Summer Olympics, Barcelona hosted parts of the 1982 Football World Cup and has hosted the X FINA World Championship and Eurobasket. The city has two UEFA 5-star rated football stadiums: FC Barcelona's Nou Camp and the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.
FC Barcelona's soccer team is almost a way of life in Barcelona. The rivalry with Madrid rises almost to the point where Barcelona can be considered the Catalonia national team. FC Barca was founded on 29 November 1899 by Joan Gamper, who created the team colors of blue and claret from the Swiss canton in which he lived. Barcelona lost its first ever match with some English expatriates 0-1, but within ten years began a string of Catalan and Spanish championships lasting decades. FC Barcelona went though tough times in the rise to the Spanish Civil War and its aftermath, but was able to recover and by the mid 1940s resumed its championship ways.
FC Barcelona is a sports club containing basketball, handball, hockey, ice-hockey, figure skating, indoor football, rugby, baseball, volleyball and women's football, but the jewel in the crown has always been association football, or the Barcelona Soccer Team. The Barcelona team has qualified every year for the European competition since it was founded in 1955.
The club motto is "Més que un club" and they refer to their stadium as "Camp Nou." In English these are "More than a club" and "Our Ground." Despite a slump at the turn of the century, FC Barcelona has assembled a talented team and once again resumed winning ways. The club currently has a five-year deal with UNICEF, wearing the emblem on their jerseys and paying $1.9 million a year for the privilege.
Among the many claims to fame of the Barca team are that it has more victories than any other Association Football team in the world. They also have more wins in the Copa del Rey, the Spanish tournament, than any other team with 24 victories. There are 18 La Liga Championships, 7 Supercopa de Espana, 2 EUFA Champions League, 4 EUFA Winner's Cups, 3 Inter-Cities Fairs Cups, 1 Inter-City Fairs Cup Trophy Play-off, 2 European Super Cups, 2 Copa Latina, 4 Copa de Oro Argentina, 22 Catalan Championships, 2 Copa Martina Rossi, 4 Coupe de Pyrenees, 1 Mediteranean League, 2 Copa de Ligua, 1 Copa Barcelona, 1 Lligua Catalana, 5 Copa Catalana and one Little World Cup. It is little wonder Barcelona has embraced the Barcelona Soccer Team and reveres it as a symbol of Catalonia.
