Puma Shoes - Sponsors Of Half The Worlds Football Teams

Dictionary meaning : Puma : A large solitary cat belonging to the feline family, having the greatest range of any terrestrial mammal and an extremely capable stalk and ambush predator. Hardly something to be worn on your feet! No people, I am not talking about poaching and animal hunting. Like its namesake, Puma, is a German based multinational company that is equally respected in its field of expertise. One of the earliest shoe manufacturing companies, PUMA started off in 1948, just before the end of the World War II. The history of the setting up of the company is a very interesting read. Let me try to explain it to you.

Born to a worker in a shoe factory, Rudolph Dassler and Adolf Dassler were brothers with big dreams in a war ravaged Germany. Wanting to do their part for the fatherland, both brothers served their time in the army and found a small shoe factory in the back of their house in their mother's laundry. In the 1936 Olympic Games, Adolf Dassler drove to the Olympic Village and persuaded American super star sprinter Jesse Owens to put spikes on the bottom of his shoes. After Jesse Owens won 4 gold medals, the success story of the Dassler shoes become a global phenomenon.

But their success was short lived. Before the fall of Germany, tension was rife between the two brothers and after Rudi Dassler was captured, both brothers had split for good. Adi Dassler set up his company and named it Adidas, the second largest shoe manufacturing company in the world, and Rudi names his RuDa.

Later that year Ruda changed name to PUMA, and sponsored many footballers of Germany's national football team. So much so, that the scorer of Germany's first post war goal was wearing PUMA boots. Over the years, Rudi's expertise and willingness to work aid off great dividends and soon the world was wearing PUMA shoes. Football star Pele, stopped the final minutes of the 1970 FIFA world cup to tie his shoelaces thus giving the world precious minutes of his PUMA boots. These days, Puma sponsors half of the world's football teams, tons of players worldwide and sponsors a myriad of other sports and players. PUMA also specialises in creating sports apparel - football apparel, jump suits and track suits. You can find out more about nike and puma shoes at http://www.retronikeairshoes.com

PUMA has since then charted success stories year after year, increasing profits and establishing base in almost every country in the world. PUMA's famous Complete series provides a wide variety of features to customers worldwide. PUMA's other famous shoes involve shoes designed for sports like running, basketball and most importantly football. PUMA has tie ups with 2006 FIFA world cup winners, Italy and are the main sponsors for the team. They are also main sponsors of Formula 1 teams like Ferrari and BMW and have released their PUMA - Ferrari and PUMA - BMW apparel series. PUMA since its inception as a small company on a hillside has Germany has come a long way but never really forgotten its roots. For PUMA, it's always customers first.

National Team Football Shirts - Support Your Team With Cool Apparel

In the world of football, your countries teams are the ones that are built to represent the entire country, such as England, Brazil, and the U.S. With national team football shirts, you can support all of your favourite countries, no matter which ones you most enjoy. The England team has always been popular, as has the Brazil team. However, you can find shirts and other apparel for all national teams that are playing today. In the past decade, the popularity of football has increased significantly, creating a greater market for apparel and products for fans and supporters.

Football shirts and kits can be purchased online, and you can even get official shirts that include all of the logos, sponsorships, names and numbers just like you'd see on the field. There are shirts for every team and just about every player, no matter who you might be trying to support. Take the time to check out online stores, but make sure that you're buying from authentic, reputable sources when it comes to national team apparel so that you don't get ripped off or taken advantage of by someone selling knock-offs or replicas and advertising them as the real deal.

In the UK, the market for football shirts has always been strong. Of course, in some countries like the US, the more recent popularity of the sport has spawned a whole new group of followers that are seeking the best football apparel available. The great thing about shopping online is that you can find all the apparel that you need at affordable prices and have it shipped to anywhere in the world. Even if you live in California and root for the South African national team, you can still get the shirts that you want.

National team football shirts come in all sizes and styles, too, including shirts for adults, kids, and even shirts for people who need larger sizes. No matter what you are looking for, you can find it if you are willing to look. Take the time to check out the online shirts market and see what types of football shirts you can find to support your team. The odds are good that you will find the shirt that you want and you can get a great price by shopping online for better selection and more affordable products. Supporting your favourite football team has never been easier.

Who Are the New Orleans Saints Football Team?

The Uphill Struggle To Become A Successful Football Team!

First there was Hurricane Katrina with all its devastation, rendering New Orleans a "ghost town" for a short period of time. The citizens of the great City of New Orleans began to make their way back into the "Crescent City" and to rebuild their lives again from the heaps of ashes they found their very livelihood hanging. Each family clung to each other for hope and direction as they began to pick the pieces of their lives up and begin to rebuild again. Out of those ashes of devastation came a gift from the Most High above---a simple gift, in the form of a National Football Team, namely, "The New Orleans Saints." And they proved time and time again to be saints on the field and off the field for the City of New Orleans.

A Football Team That Transformed An Entire City!

With most of the people working and trying to reestablish themselves back into their homes, in the back ground was one of the most phenomenal events to ever effect an entire city, the making of a Powerhouse National Football Team that would totally transform the people of the City. During the week the people worked but, when Sunday came, these amazing people became fans of the New Orleans Saints and they would leave all their battle scars and problems at home as they came and watched their beloved team play, and get this, WIN! That in itself was an accomplish for the team as they were once known as the "aints."

America's Team---The New Orleans Saints!

You may be thinking, How can this author portray New Orleans as "America's Team?' Simple, I was one of those who lost everything I owned in the midst of Katrina only to become a part of the great awakening that was brought about through a National Football Team that God utilized to bring hope and restoration to an entire City. If no else else agree's with me, well, that's alright by me cause I realize the tremendous part this Football Team played in the rebuilding of the "Crescent City." We are the "WhoDat" Nation.....

The Regathering!

When Drew Brees brings the players together at the beginning of each game his chanting is a rallying for not only the victory the Saints will accomplish but for the rising of another stone in the Cities rebirth. Chant on Mr Brees, all the way to victory in the Super Bowl. Just as each piece of the puzzle was brought together, first came coach Sean Payton, then Drew Brees, Reggie Bush and the remainder of this great group of players who gave of themselves on and off the field to breath life back into the City of New Orleans. We're back, and plan to remain atop the charts for a long time to come, "The New Orleans Saints."

Fantasy Football Picks - How Many Quarterbacks is Too Many on the Roster?

Where you wondering how many quarterbacks you should plan for when creating your fantasy football picks? The answer is generally related to whether you are in a league that starts one or two quarterbacks and the size of your roster. Generally, the answer to this question is usually three, but you could do better with two.

Standard leagues only require one starting QB, so my question is, why would you need three? You could even think about not even keeping two? It all depends upon the situation of your team and situation of your league.

Here's what that means: You have two quarterbacks on your roster. You also have a RB and WR that you really don't think you are going to need and aren't performing well. Team A has a QB who just got injured and the other QB on his roster has a bye. If possible, you may want to sweep up the QB who is playing this week and stash him on your roster to make Team A have to choose another option for the week. This is a situation where keeping three QB's on your roster might be acceptable, but it is certainly not the norm.

Another reason you may want to consider keeping three QB's is in the event that the talent pool at the other positions isn't that great. There are leagues where you can be in a draft and by the time it gets to the final three or four rounds, there are no RB's or WR's really worthy of taking a chance on. This is a case where picking up or drafting a third QB may be beneficial, but overall, the answer is still, three is too many.

When evaluating your fantasy football picks a good backup QB is usually all you need. The only thing to keep in mind is not to draft a QB who has the same bye week as your starter. This is fruitless. You are hopefully only going to need your backup QB once a year. This is why keeping three is useless, unless there is a real good reason for it.

This is also why some people believe in the theory of only carrying one QB. A big part of this strategy is, again, who is left on the waiver wire. If there are two or three decent QB's left on the free agent market, you can just pick one up when your QB has a bye, so it might not be a bad thing to carry only one QB.

The question becomes, is your roster full of players that are better than anyone left on the free agent list? Remember, the ultimate goal in fantasy football is to build a team. You want to obtain the best players that it is possible for you to have at every position. Since there are more choices in receivers and running backs, it may not be smart to waste a roster spot on a third QB.

In leagues that start two QB's, you will almost always want to carry three QB's, although sometimes two is acceptable as well. First of all, let me point out that you should really think twice about any league that has more than 10 teams and requires two starting QB's.

There are only 32 teams in the NFL. If you have a 10 team league and everyone has to start two QB's that leaves 12. If everyone has one backup, that's 30, leaving only two starting QB's on the waiver wire. Again, making sure your QB's don't have the same bye week is absolutely crucial. This is why even in ten team leagues there will likely be a restriction placed that no team can carry more than three QB's.

Also, when you finalize your fantasy football picks, be aware of your bye weeks is critical to having a fighting chance of winning your fantasy league every week. You can see why joining a two quarterback league with more than 10 teams can become a fiasco.

So, to sum it all up for you, drafting and keeping two QB's on your roster is probably the best scenario. While there are circumstances where three could be acceptable. However, three QB's is usually a wasted slot.

Wondering just how to get started playing fantasy football? Here's 2 key strategies to making the best fantasy football picks. Sign up for my free fantasy football picks and tips at http://JohnnyNFL.com.

Personalised Football Shirts For Football Teams

If you're a 5 a side or amateur football team, finding the correct supplier of football shirts is important. When choosing your team football kits it is important to make sure that your supplier can also accommodate your needs in terms of providing football kit printing and/or embroidery so that your team's kits can be personalised.

Many local suppliers can help you choose your kits and you should be able to select from a wide range of colours and sizes to design the perfect football team wear for your club, combining your team colours with matching football shirts, shorts and socks. Prostar, a well known maker/supplier of quality team football kits, (who supply their products through a network of registered distributors) ensure that their products use fabrics that can easily accommodate printing and embroidery, but they do not include personalisation of kits within their standard pricing structure. In many cases your local distributor can provide printing and embroidery of football shirts, shorts and in some cases socks. In addition some will also be able to provide similar services for team training wear.

When personalising team football kits this can be done by incorporating your team emblem as a printed logo or the logo can be embroidered on your new shirts and shorts as required. It is also possible and quite common to add printed sponsors logos. Names and numbers can also be printed to ensure each player has the perfect football kit.

If emblem and logo printing/embroidery is required there is normally an initial charge for generating the artwork template, but this template can be used many times in the future to produce more personalised football kits with only the cost of the actual printing/embroidery then being charged.

When selecting your kit supplier/distributor it is important to ensure that you select one that can handle your printing/embroidery needs along with the supply of the team football kits and that they not only have experience of the personalisation process but that they are familiar with and know how to handle the fabrics that their suppliers are using in their football kits.

The author, John Nicholson, has over 20 years experience of supplying football teamwear. His company Sports International UK, based in Manchester, North West England, UK, is a registered distributor of Prostar products and can supply team football kits, personalised football shirts, shorts and training wear, accessories and equipment. Further details of the range available can be found on http://www.sportsinternationaluk.co.uk

A List of the Highest Paid Football Players in the NFL

In researching information for this article, the latest data for the presentation of the highest salaries in the NFL is for the 2008 season. It should be noted that this list changes from year to year. Also, the salary cap imposed by the NFL commission increases from year to year. The salary cap is the amount of money an NFL team can spend on salaries for their players per year. The salary cap has progressively increased year by year since its inception back in 1994.

The NFL salary cap, as negotiated by the players Union in the current collective bargaining agreement, is 62.24% of all football related revenue divided by 32 teams. For the 2009 season that figure is 128 million dollars.

The following shows the steady increase in salary cap since 1999:

Salary Cap Per Team for NFL Player Salaries by Year:

2008 $116 million

2007 $109 million

2006 $102 million

2005 $85.5 million

2004 $80.5 million

2003 $75 million

2002 $71 million

2001 $67.5 million

2000 $62.2 million

1999 $58.4 million

As the salary cap increases, so does the salary of players. The real question is how is the money distributed to players. There is a type of salary distribution model that teams use which is not known to the general public. What is known is that the top 20 salaries for 2008 only had a couple of quarterbacks. Yet the highest paid player for 2008 was quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. So who were the highest paid NFL players for 2008. The following table tells it all:

TOP 20 HIGHEST PAID PLAYERS IN 2008

1. QB Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh $ 27,701,920

2. DE Jared Allen, Minnesota $ 21,119,256

3. WR Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona $ 17,103,480

4. QB JaMarcus Russell, Oakland $ 16,872,400

5. RB Michael Turner, Atlanta $ 16,003,840

6. G Chris Snee, N.Y. Giants $ 14,890,000

7. CB Asante Samuel, Philadelphia $ 14,145,000

8. WR Randy Moss, New England $ 14,006,720

9. T Flozell Adams, Dallas $ 14,005,760

10.DT Tommy Kelly, Oakland $ 13,978,480

11. WR Terrell Owens, Dallas $ 13,731,560

12. WR Bernard Berrian, Minnesota $ 13,705,000

13. T Michael Roos, Tennessee $ 13,505,520

14. C Jeff Faine, Tampa Bay $ 13,105,760

15. DE Will Smith, New Orleans $ 12,950,000

16. QB Tony Romo, Dallas $ 12,886,600

17. G Travelle Wharton, Carolina $ 12,850,000

18. DE Antwan Odom, Cincinnati $ 12,800,000

19. CB Terence Newman, Dallas $ 12,611,240

20. RB Marion Barber, Dallas $ 12,522,400

Lets examine the concept of salary in the NFL a little more closely. As previously stated, how teams pay their players and the value they place on them is known by only a few, including the player agent. It is interesting to note that having high salary players does not necessarily mean success to the team.

A case in point. One of the most successful NFL teams over the past ten years has been the New England Patriots. Yet only one player from the Patriots is in the top 20 for 2008. That is wide receiver Randy Moss. Yet Oakland, over the past ten years, which has two players in the top 20, has not seen the success that the Patriots have had. As a matter of fact, they have not even come close.

Also, you can see five players from the Dallas Cowboys in the top 20 list for 2008, yet they have not been in the Super Bowl since 1995 (Super Bowl XXX). It appears that the New England Patriots like to spread their money around to their players, so that one or a few players do not get an enormous salary while the rest of the players make a fraction of that amount. Randy Moss may be an exception to this rule.

This team concept of salary distribution that the Patriots employ falls in line with the team concept they have set for their players when it comes to playing football. The Patriot's organization believe that it requires a team effort to win football games, and not the superior effort of only a few players. Maybe that is one of the reasons the Patriots have been so successful over the past ten years. And lets not forget that the Patriots is one of the best managed teams in the NFL. Part of that management is proper salary distribution. Team owner Robert Kraft and head coach Bill Belichick seem to know what they are doing.

In any case, NFL player salaries continue to increase year by year. Today the lowest rookie makes a bare minimum of $285,000.00 (at least for 2007). In terms of all professional sports, the NFL players are the highest paid. This is why so many college players seek to get into the NFL. But it should also be remembered that the average length of a career for a player in the NFL is only 4 years. So obviously a player needs to make all he can during that short career. The question is are the players worth these very high salaries.

A persons salary is dependent on one major factor. That is how many other people can do the job they are doing? The fewer the number of people that can perform a particular job, the higher the salary. Not to many people can play in the NFL. Also, the players do deserve most of the revenue that is produced simply because, without the players, you would not have any business entity. And since fans are willing to pay the high ticket prices, then I would have to answer the question that yes, the players do deserve the salaries they receive.

Football is a form of entertainment, but it is a form of entertainment Americans can not do without. Even in the Roman period, people had a need to see the gladiators fight in the Colosseums. The Romans had to pay to see their gladiators fight to the death. Sometimes all the seats were free, if a rich person had given money to pay for the show. Other times, you had to pay, and it cost more money for the good seats than for the bad seats, so the poor people had to sit way up top in the Colosseum where it was hard to see. Even the Colosseums had their nosebleed seats. The point is, Romans were willing to pay to see the gladiator form of competition. This willingness to pay to see competition has existed throughout the history of mankind.

Every year, fans watch their teams with the hope that their team will reach the Super Bowl, or in some cases, simply end up with a winning season. And in the end, we really do not care to much about a players salary. As long as we enjoy watching our team play, we will continue to pay high ticket prices.

So to conclude, there are really two basic reasons why NFL players can make millions of dollars per year. First and foremost, fans are willing to pay high ticket prices to see their team play. Secondly, not to many people can play in the NFL. This results in a high demand for their skill. Lets face it, not to many people have the skill of a Tom Brady or a Ben Roethlisberger. So as long as the demand for tickets remains high, players will continue to enjoy a high income.

Is Teamwork Really Important in the Game of Football?

Any football team has eleven first team players. Every other member of the squad is often regarded as a substitute. But the question is whether it is really important for a football team to apply teamwork. Read on and you will definitely find out what I think about teamwork in the game of football.

A football team is made up of individual players with individual talents and skills. A great football team has great goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, wingers and strikers. A great team can hold the ball very well, defend very well and score good goals.

Research by top football experts has shown that the game of football is one sport that requires collaboration.

This means that a team may have seasoned goalkeepers, wonderful ball jugglers, fantastic dribblers, and mind blowing strikers but if these individual talents and skills don't blend into a team then there's no team.

By extension, they don't stand a great chance of winning matches.

I am yet to see players that can dribble all the 11 players of an opposing team no matter how weak the opposing team may be. However, if there are players that can do such, they stand a chance of sustaining life-altering injuries and consequently, having permanent disabilities because of the workload.

There is the word "team" in a football team just to show you that teamwork is very important to any team irrespective of the abundant talents in the team. No team in the world can do without teamwork because the team is bigger than any individual player just like any country is bigger than the President of the country.

Which Hall Of Fame Players Played For The Most Teams?

When you take a look at football players who have made it into the Pro Football Hall-of-Fame, usually you find a player who has spent the vast majority of his career with one team. This is mainly because when a team gets a player with exceptional ability like that; they usually do all they can to hold onto him. Sometimes, because of diminishing skills or payroll reasons, a player will play his last couple years with another team before retiring. That being said it is rare that a Hall-of-Fame caliber player plays with more than two or three teams during their entire career.

So, that begs the question: What is the most teams that a member of the Pro Football Hall-of-Fame has played for.

The easy answer is: Six.

Three member of the Pro Football Hall-of-Fame have played for six different teams in their career. The back story on these three players is that they all played the majority of their careers in the NFL's startup days (1920's) when teams would go out of business, change names or cities frequently, and just overall not have the stability of the modern NFL, making it more likely that a player would play for multiple teams. Those players are:

Jim Thorpe - 1915-1928

Canton Bulldogs

Cleveland Indians (NFL)

Oorang Indians

Rock Island Independents

New York Giants

Chicago Cardinals

Joe Grunyon - 1919-1927

Canton Bulldogs

Clevenland Indians (NFL)

Oorang Indians

Rock Island Independents

Kansas City Cowboys

New York Giants

Fritz Pollard - 1919-1928

Akron Pros/Indians

Milwaukee Badgers

Hammond Pros

Gilberton Cadamounts

Providence Steam Roller

Chicago Black Hawks

If we look at the more modern era of professional football, the most teams any Hall-of-Fame member has played for is five, and three different players have accomplished this feat.

Warren Moon 1983-2000

While Moon is in the Hall-of-Fame and has played for five different teams, some may count it differently as only four of the teams were in the NFL.

Edmonton Eskimos (CFL)

Houston Oilers

Minnesota Vikings

Seattle Seahawks

Kansas City Chiefs

Tommy MacDonald 1957-1968

Philadelphia Eagles

Dallas Cowboys

Los Angeles Rams

Atlanta Falcons

Cleveland Browns

James Lofton 1978-1993

Green Bay Packers

Los Angeles Raiders

Buffalo Bills

Los Angeles Rams

Philadelphia Eagles

Most often, when we think of Hall-of-Fame players we think of players like Barry Sanders, Terry Bradshaw, Bart Starr, or John Elway who played their entire career with one team. Sometimes we think of players like Joe Montana, O.J. Simpson, Tony Dorsett, or Emmitt Smith who played the majority of their career with one team and then finished it with another. Not too often do we remember the players who played for four or five different teams as Hall-of-Famers.

Indianapolis Semi-Pro Football Team Wins National Championship

The Hoosier Hurricanes invaded Homestead, Florida for last weekend's 4th annual Minor League Football News (MLFN) Super Football Weekend strong winded and left with reign.

In a game dominated by defense, the Hurricanes hammered the Carolina Express 41-0 to win MLFN's AA National Championship.

"To reach this point so quickly is incredible," said Hurricanes head coach John Starlin. "I really feel like a proud father to all of those guys."

While the 'Canes' offense was strong, the play of their defense was dominant. The 'Canes forced eight turnovers and controlled the Express' offense, which towered over them in size and power. Early in the contest, it looked like the Express were going to use their Power I offensive attack to run right down the throat of the 'Canes' defense. When the Express were forced to throw, however, the speedy Hurricane secondary was able to take the game away. The first of four Express interceptions was thrown on that opening drive, and the Hurricanes never looked back.

"They were a tough team to scout, but I really think they underestimated our speed," said Starlin. "Other coaches from their league were able to help me out as far as scouting, but I knew as solid as our defense was that we could play with anybody."

Staying with the defensive theme of the game, linebacker Deon Smith was awarded the game's MVP for his 12 tackle performance. He also intercepted a pass and forced a fumble.

The AA national title was the perfect end to a season that was already storybook for the Indianapolis squad, founded by co-owners Starlin, David Day, and NFL wide receiver Reggie Wayne. In their first year of existence, the Hurricanes were awarded Best New Team in the Midwest by MLFN after finishing 13-1 in the Ohio Valley Football League (OVFL). Their OVFL season finished with a Super Bowl victory over the Charlotte (MI) Roughriders, 21-0.

"This has really been a dream season for us," said Starlin.

Starlin's players have also won numerous accolades from MLFN. Four 'Canes were honored with Midwest All-American status: Derrick Ellis was an honorable mention Midwest All-American at running back, wide receiver Scott Penick made second team Midwest All-American, and Corey Crumpton and Charles Avant were first and second team at defensive back, respectively.

Ellis, a former "Mr. Indiana" while playing running back in high school, was also named Running Back of the Year in the Midwest Region by MLFN.

The Hurricanes will return to the OVFL next season and compete to become the first ever back-to-back champion in league history, a feat no team has accomplished in 40 years of competition.

"We are trying to develop something special here," said Starlin.

It certainly looks like the Hurricanes are off to a roaring start.
