NCAA Football Picks - Find Out What College Football Team Will Put Money in Your Pocket This Season

Our Football insiders for College Football Picks report that the Pittsburgh Panthers are the team to watch in the 2010 College Football season as sports bettors should jump on them early and often. This team is stacked on offense and defense with skill players that will be playing on Sundays. The Panthers finished the 2009 season going 10-3 and lost a chance to go to a BCS Bowl game losing to #3 ranked Cincinnati 45-44 after leading until the final 2 minutes of the game.

The Panther offense will be lead by Dion Lewis, one of the best running backs in the country who you will hear mentioned in the Heisman race by the end of the season. Lewis is a dynamic running back that was not highly recruited but stormed on the College Football scene rushing for 1,799 yards and 17 touchdowns in his freshman year ranking #2 behind former Heisman trophy winner Tony Dorsett for Pitt's single season rushing record. Our Football insiders for NCAAF Picks project that Pittsburgh will be one of the top scoring teams in the nation this season as they run a pro-style offense with a fullback and tight end rather than the traditional running back spread.

Sophomore Bill Sunseri who has a strong arm and good mobility will start his first season at quarterback for the Panthers. Our football insiders for NCAAF Picks report that Sunseri will have the best tandem of tackles in the Big East Conference to block for him upfront and a big target at tight end as 6 foot 5 Jonathan Baldwin caught 57 passes for 1,111 yards last season.

Pitt's defense will still be the weak part of this football team again this season but they do have studs on their defense that will be playing on Sunday's. They have a pass rushing duo in Jabaal Sheard and Greg Romeus who has become one of the best defensive ends in the country. Pitt also has one of the Big East best safeties in Dom DeCicco who had 88 tackles and three interceptions last season.

This defense has to come together as a unit but the Panther offense that scores at will and pounds opposing defensives on the ground will take a lot of pressure off the defense and enable them to succeed. Take advantage of the betting numbers the odds makers will post early in the season when making your College Football Picks before the public is aware of this talent and realizes Pitt is a dangerous team that no one in the country will be able to stop.

SPECIAL1 TV (EP15-HQ)The lads pick the BEST OF SEASON 08/09

(Original transmission date 31st May 09)........... I'm onsetanta sports first appeared at the beginning of December 2007 & has been a cult football comedy hit ever since. At first the show was a solo effort with The special one in the studio alone & taking calls from various other football faces & Managers (with the exception of a certain Dave from Newcastle). In due coarse Two more regulars were drafted in by Jose in the shape of Sven ("IT") & the boy Wayne (Rooney) This move bought a massive comical boost to the show & helped increase it's popularity. In autumn 08 a certain Mr Fabio Capello (cabbage man) came into the show as THE BOSS much to Jose's disgust. But he has seldom been seen since a certain election defeat to Jose. (Do not cross the special one). In early January 2009 setanta stunned the shows millions & millions of Fantastic fans by announcing that IOSS was to end the following weekend.....for no apparent reason. DAVE LENNON (Director of this channel) went Ballistic & started an online campaign to save this special show. After 10 days of this campaign it was announced through a special episode (EP00 on this channel) that the show was to return with a new name "Special 1 TV". The fans rejoiced & I slept properly for the first time in ten days. The whole thing had been a cheap marketing ploy (as stated by Sven in EP01) to accommodate a new sponsor (pools4all.com). However - this youtube Director got his reward when his campaign & his name were given a rather ...

Top 3 Big 12 Teams For the 2009 College Football Season

We are yet to see some powerful teams from Big 12 North because so far it seems like forever since the teams of the South have dominated the Big 12. There is no hope of that changing anytime soon however because the gap in the potential of the two division is only increasing if anything. So just like all the recent years, the great teams for the Big 12 are all part of Big 12 South.

With teams like Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech - it seems like the south is the place to be in college football this year. It is definitely the best division there is right now.

That also means that the winner of the South title is going to win the Big 12 championship title without a doubt. What happens in South is what we actually have to see, as usual. So let's take a look at the power packed south teams that have been placed on the top 3 list for the Big 12.

Texas Longhorns - They are amongst the favorite picks for many an expert and analyst this season. But some of them also place them slightly behind their rival Oklahoma. However, there are still those who believe that they still have a better chance of winning the Big 12 that all the others. Their quarterback Colt McCoy is quite capable of matching Oklahoma's Sam Bradford. With McCoy being supported by his buddy and wideout Jordan Shipley, the 'Horns may have a good chance of winning this time round. The entire Offensive line up is back as well. Once coach Mack Brown finds a suitable tailback to stabilize the ever turbulent backfield, the 'Horns will prove to be an unstoppable force in their current line up.

Oklahoma Sooners - Their Heisman winning quarterback Sam Bradford is making a return this season and it is quite certain that he is looking for payback. The Sooners had a great season last year only to be stopped at the end by Florida during the BCS championship. Before that they were making it look easy but then Florida completely routed them during BCS, proving again that the Sooners lack in the defense section. Bradford is banking on the fact that tight end Jermain Gresham is returning. Gresham is fully ready for the NFL, making him a powerful player in the team. The tailback DeMarco Murray is also another one to watch out for.

Oklahoma State Cowboys - They are a great team for the ACC or the Big East even and will route the field completely to make it to the BCS bowl. However, they are up against the 'Horns and the Sooners in the Big 12 and that is what stops them every year. They may still breakout this season with their great offense trio made up of wideout Dez Bryant, tailback Kendall Hunter and quarterback Zac Robinson. Robinson makes for an experienced leader and together the Cowboys have a fighting chance of winning it or at least making it to the finals.

Top 3 SEC Football Teams For the 2009 College Football Season

With the 2009 college football season quickly approaching, anticipations are high, especially for fans of the Southeastern Conference. Coming off another national championship, thanks to the commanding Urban Meyer and his Florida Gators, the SEC is a proud conference with a long tradition of championships. If you are looking for a smooth avenue for football betting, you may not wish to look any further than the SEC brand of football.

After all, many preseason football polls have the SEC accounting for four teams in the top ten including Florida, Alabama, LSU, and Ole Miss. While Ole Miss Head Coach Houston Nutt has traditionally choked under pressure when expectations are high, the other three teams are consistently rock solid. And before you commence football betting for this season, examine the impact these teams are poised to make on the rest of the college football world.

Alabama: Nick Saban's big move to Crimson Tide country rattled a lot of cages, but none more so than those found in Louisiana. The coach built his legendary reputation on the campus of Louisiana State University, where he brought home a national championship and two SEC championships in his tenure from 2000-2004. After a lackluster professional career with the Miami Dolphins that lasted only one season, he made his triumphant return to the SEC with a different team. The Crimson Tide, in two seasons of Saban tutelage, has already won the SEC Western Division once, and held the #1 team in the nation slot until Florida knocked them from their throne late last season.

LSU: If the LSU Tigers are holding a grudge against Nick Saban, it certainly hasn't shown. Since Alabama's new head coach left the Tigers in 2004, LSU has enjoyed an additional SEC and national championship, thanks in part to coaching stalwart Les Miles. After a disappointing 2008-2009 season that saw the Tigers close with a loss to the talent-zapped Arkansas Razorbacks (in their first year under new head coach Bobby Petrino, no less), you can bet that this is a program itching for redemption.

Florida: It is very hard to do an analysis of these teams without placing the focus on coaching. Saban and Miles are both highly successful coaches, but the real story when it comes to blowing the whistle is with the Florida Gators. In just four years, Head Coach Urban Meyer has won two national championships. And that was after having gone unbeaten in his short time with the Utah Utes. Meyer has developed a reputation as someone who has his teams prepared. His brief career, in addition to the national titles, includes two SEC championships and two Mountain West Conference championships. He has already had a Hall of Fame-worthy career, but will it be enough for the 2009 college football season? Only time will tell.

Agree or disagree with any of the above? Luckily, you will have a chance to prove your football betting skills. And if you want, there are sportsbooks that make it a little easier for you by offering a bookmaker bonus. With a bookmaker bonus, you enjoy rewards simply by placing your bets with an experienced service. You are going to take part in the football betting season anyway, so why not take advantage of the incentives, such as the bookmaker bonus codes you can get from any reputable company?

The road to the national championship goes through the SEC. Get in on the action for Saturdays that are both relaxing and rewarding.

Youth Football Practice, Your Fourth Practice of the 2008 Season

This is a continuation of the football practice schedule my three youth football teams are following for the 2008 season as well as comments on the progress of all three teams age 7-9, 10-11 and 12-13.

We gave the kids Friday-Sunday off. While most of our competition is practicing 5 days per week, we feel very confident that using the practice methodology we employ along with the proper pace and priorities, we will be able to compete. We believe that youth football players should be really looking forward to practice and are going to make sure no one gets "burned out", while preparing the kids for our first game on 8/23. This is the earliest game we have ever played and the least amount of practice time I've ever had in coaching youth football for over 15 years.

We got started with the base dynamic warm ups, team fit form tackle and angle form tackling, We are easily getting done with all of this in 10 minutes, the pace is where we want it and everyone is breathing a bit heavy at the end of it. Coaches are getting the hang of the perfection we are looking for and the super fast pace, where each small group of 6 kids is getting a rep about every 6 seconds.

Today was a defensive day and our second day in pads.

We worked 20 minutes competitive group tacking drills, loser goes to left group, winner to right group, Close quarters tackling drills and for those progressing well, 3 slot challenge tackling drills. For those struggling, back to the form splatter tackling drills.

The competitive group tackling process helped us determine where kids were going to play on defense. We had a real good idea based on last weeks practice, but this helped us on the kids sitting on the fence. Our coaches all have a detailed description of each position and the traits required to play each position.

We divided up into and did the following for 30 minutes:

Linebackers-Open Field tackling and block shedding drills

D-backs- backpedal, 45 degree break on backpedal, Cover Post, Out

D-Linemen- Bull Rush move, Swim Move, Both moves then form tackle fit

Bearcrawlers- Bearcrawler progression per the book, relay, squeeze, squeeze to form tackle fit

D-Ends- Base alignment, base move, versus lead block sweep, versus coaches as scout on sweep, reverse, off-tackle

Team Defense 40 minutes- 3 steps and stop on ball movement, versus double tight full house, versus double tight wing, versus split with slot

Subbing every play- Every player has both an offensive and defensive position

The with coaches running backfield, sweep, boot, reverse, dive, off-tackle, play action

20 minutes Kicker tryouts-Younger team

10 minutes "game time" Deer Hunter, Dummy Relay Races

Older team 20 minutes - Punt and Kickoff teams

Stay tuned for more developments.

College Football Week 3 - Dream Season Ends For Southern Cal, Brigham Young, Utah and Georgia Tech

(Editor's Note: The rankings in this article are from the AP Top 25 Poll of sportswriters and sportscasters, and the ratings are from Jeff Sagarin. Ed Bagley's Top 25 Poll is just as subjective as the AP Poll or the Coaches' Poll, but my poll is just so much more fun to read.)

The great difference why watching college football games is so much more enjoyable than watching pro football is not because it is exciting-heck, pro football can be exciting too-it's because college football is much more unpredictable. College football's third week of action is an excellent example.

The fortunes of four teams-Southern California, Brigham Young, Utah and Georgia Tech-changed dramatically after losing this week.

Third-ranked USC, which beat San Jose State 56-3 at home and Ohio State 18-15 away in its first two games, flew north to Seattle and lost 16-13 to a Washington Husky team that was 0-12 last season. The Trojans lost because Steve Sarkisian, Washington's energetic new head coach, and Nick Holt, Washington's excitable new defensive coordinator, played key roles for USC last season; Sarkisian was offensive coordinator for the Trojans and Holt was the defensive coordinator.

Washington started its season by playing hard and losing to 9th-ranked Louisiana State, 31-24, before knocking off Idaho 42-23 to record its first win in 16 games. The Huskies now believe they can win and, believe you me, USC now knows they can get embarrassed by a team that believes they can win.

Washington's Huskies were rewarded for their effort by jumping into the AP Top 25 Poll at No. 24. USC dropped from 3rd to 12th in the same AP Poll. Washington's Sagarin rating also jumped 39 places in 7 days-from 63 to 24.

Seventh-ranked Brigham Young started its season by upsetting Oklahoma 14-13, and then trashed Tulane, 54-3. Unfortunately, unranked Florida State, which managed to get beaten by Miami (FL) 38-34 in its opener at home, and then slip by lowly Jacksonville State 19-9 at home, traveled to BYU and stung the Cougars, 54-28. BYU dropped to 19th the AP Poll.

Eighteenth-ranked Utah, which was the only undefeated major college football team last year at 13-0, slipped by Utah State 35-17 and San Jose State 24-14 before traveling to unranked Oregon and getting upset, 31-24.

Fourteenth-ranked Georgia Tech opened its season by looking unimpressive with a win over lowly Jacksonville State 37-17, and barely getting past Clemson 30-27, but found the going much tougher against No. 20 Miami (FL), losing 33-17. The Yellow Jackets dropped right out of the AP Poll, and Miami rocketed up from 20th to 9th.

Unpredictable? You bet. The chances of USC, BYU, Utah or Georgia Tech playing in the National Championship Game this year are probably nil; all of them were undefeated last week.

Here are 11 ranked teams that won and are now 3-0 and moving on:

No. 1 Florida at home over SEC opponent Tennessee 23-13. No. 2 Texas at home over Texas Tech 34-24; Texas Tech was the only team to beat Texas last year. No. 4 Alabama at home over lowly, 124th-ranked North Texas, 53-7. No. 5 Penn State at home over lowly, 125th-ranked Temple, 31-6. No. 8 California on-the-road over Minnesota, 35-21. No. 9 LSU at home over in-state rival LA-Lafayette, 31-3. No. 10 Boise State on-the-road over Fresno State, 51-34.

No. 17 Cincinnati on-the-road over Oregon State, 28-18. No. 22 Kansas at home over Duke, 44-16. No. 24 North Carolina at home over in-state rival East Carolina, 31-17. No. 25 Michigan at home over in-state rival Eastern Michigan, 45-17.

Six other ranked teams won. No. 5 Mississippi (now 2-0 and tied with Penn State at No. 5) at home beat lowly, 167th-ranked, 1-AA Southeastern Louisiana, 52-6; and TCU (now 2-0) at home beat lowly, 137th-ranked, 1-AA Texas State San Marcos, 56-21. No. 11 Ohio State on-the-road over No. 105-ranked Toledo, 38-0.

No. 12 Oklahoma, after being upset by BYU 14-13 in its opener, is trying to win back votes with shutouts over #178th-ranked Idaho State 64-0, and now Tulsa, 45-0. No. 16 Oklahoma State (now 2-1) at home over winless, 155th-ranked Rice, 41-24. No. 23 Georgia (now 2-1) on-the-road over Arkansas in a really ugly win, 52-41.

The Georgia-Arkansas game was almost as bad as Notre Dame's home victory over Michigan State, 33-30. All four of these teams are not that good, and you can tell that by the scores-none of them have a defense worth talking about at the moment. They could all get better in future weeks, but right now none of them are nearly as good as advertised.

Nine other unranked teams quietly went to 3-0 this week, any or all of them could keep winning and move into the AP Top 25 Poll soon. They include:

Southern Mississippi at home barely over Virginia, 37-34. Colorado State at home over Nevada, 35-20. Pittsburgh at home over Navy, 27-14. Iowa at home over Arizona, 27-17. Auburn at home over West Virginia, 41-30. UCLA at home over Kansas State, 23-9. Wisconsin at home over 102nd-ranked, 1-AA Wofford, 44-14. Missouri at home over 120th-ranked, 1-AA Furman, 52-12. South Florida at home over lowly, 162nd-ranked, 1-AA Charleston Southern, 59-0.

Seven teams should not have been on the same field with their opponent this week because absolutely none of them had any real chance of winning. They included North Texas, Temple, Eastern Michigan, Southeastern Louisiana, Texas State San Marcos, Rice, and Charleston Southern.

The biggest winner of the week? It's the Washington Huskies, hands down. Their 16-13 victory over USA ranks as the greatest upset by Washington's football program in school history. Washington just may become the biggest surprise of the season.

The Upcoming 2006 NFL Football Season

The 2005 NFL football season passed with new all time records being set, with everything from Shaun Alexander's record breaking 28 touchdowns in one season to Nathan Vasher's longest return of a missed field goal at an incredible 108 yards (also the longest play of any kind in NFL history) to the Seattle Seahawks amazing regular season performance and loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XL.

Super Bowl XL was the 40th Super Bowl. The game was played on February 5, 2006 at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, following the regular football season of 2005. The American Football Conference (AFC) champions, the Pittsburgh Steelers, defeated the National Football Conference (NFC) champions, the Seattle Seahawks, 21–10. Although the Seahawks won the turnover battle, 2-1, and outgained the Steelers by 57 yards, Pittsburgh won on the strength of three big plays converted for touchdowns. The Seahawks were plagued by controversial penalties, dropped balls, poor clock management, and a game-ending interception on a drive deep into Steelers’ territory. This was the Steelers fifth Super Bowl win, and with this victory the Steelers join the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers for the most Super Bowl wins by a team.

The upcoming 2006 NFL season will be the 87th season of the National Football League. This season is scheduled to begin on September 7 and the opening kickoff game will feature the Miami Dolphins playing the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at 8:30 pm Eastern time (ET). The regular series of games start on Sunday, September 10, with the Indianapolis Colts playing the New York Giants in New York. Then on Monday Night, September 11, there will be a doubleheader: the Minnesota Vikings at the Washington Redskins at 7 pm ET, followed by the San Diego Chargers at the Oakland Raiders at 10:15 pm ET.

Three games are scheduled to be played on Thanksgiving Day. In addition to the traditional annual Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys home games during that day (who will host the Miami Dolphins at 12:30 pm ET and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 4:15 pm ET, respectively), the Denver Broncos will travel to face the Kansas City Chiefs at 8 pm ET.

The season will conclude on New Year's Eve, December 31. Super Bowl XLI, the Super Bowl championship game for the 2006 season, will be held on February 4, 2007 at Dolphin Stadium in Miami Lakes, Florida, and the post-season will conclude with the Pro Bowl in Hawaii.

Based on the NFL's scheduling formula, the intraconference and interconference matchups for 2006 will be:

Intraconference

AFC East v AFC South

AFC North v AFC West

NFC East v NFC South

NFC North v NFC West

Interconference

AFC East v NFC North

AFC North v NFC South

AFC South v NFC East

AFC West v NFC West

2006 will be the first year that the NFL will use a "flexible-scheduling" system for the last seven weeks of the regular season. The system is designed so that the league has the flexibility in selecting games to air on Sunday night that will feature the current hottest, streaking teams. This system's primary purpose is to prevent games featuring losing teams from airing during primetime late in the season, while at the same time allowing surprise, playoff-potential teams a chance to play at night. During the previous 2005 season, a December 19 Monday Night game featured the 4-9 Baltimore Ravens versus the 3-10 Green Bay Packers, while hot, streaking teams such as the Cincinnati Bengals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Jacksonville Jaguars had little or no primetime games.

Because Christmas Eve (December 24) falls on a Sunday during the 2006 season, the flexible-scheduling will actually occur in seven of the last eight weeks. Instead of a Sunday night game on Christmas Eve, two games will be held on Monday, Christmas Day: The Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas at 5 pm ET, and the New York Jets at Miami at 8:30 pm ET. Therefore, the first real test of the new flexible scheduling will come with the 2007 season, with the final seven weeks scheduled to begin on November 18 of that year.

Under the flexible-scheduling system, all Sunday games in the affected weeks will have the start time of 1pm ET/10am PT, except those played in the Pacific or Mountain Time zones who will have a start time of 4 pm ET/1pm PT (or 4:15 PM ET/1:15 PM PT if it is a doubleheader weekend). On the Tuesday 12 days before the games, the league will move one game to the primetime slot, and possibly move one or more 1 pm slotted games to the 4 pm slots. During the last week of the season, the league could re-schedule games as late as six days before the contests so that all of the television networks will be able to broadcast a game that has playoff implications.
